DESIGNATED NEIGHBOURHOOD AREA

Our designated neighbourhood area is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information about Victorian school zones. Students residing in this zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address. The Department provides guidance through the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and the freedom to choose other schools, subject to facility limitations. You can find more information and answers to frequently asked questions on the Department’s website under School zones.

TRANSITION TO YEAR 10

Transitioning from Year 9 into 10 is an exciting and daunting time for you and your child. At Homestead, we aim to make this transition as easy as possible. The way we do this is to ensure we start the process with your child’s feeder school as early as possible.

Enrolling at Homestead Senior Secondary College is based on the following:

  • Residential address;
  • Satisfactory completion of previous year;
  • Capacity of the college to meet the learner's needs.

Our main feeder schools are Alamanda P-9 College, Carranballac P-9 College, Featherbrook P-9 College, Point Cook P-9 College and Saltwater P-9 College. Homestead works closely with each of these schools to prepare your child for Senior School. Enrolment enquiries for students that do not attend one of the listed feeder schools, need to contact our Enrolment Officer via 7379 9600 or homestead.senior.sc@education.vic.gov.au.

In Term 2, you will be given access to a link to indicate your school preference (DNA school or private setting). We will use this information to ensure you are eligible to enrol at Homestead. During Term 3, enrolment packs will be emailed to you or can be collected from our front office if a printed copy is required.

The enrolment packs, along with all of the required documentation can either be returned directly to the main office at Homestead Senior Secondary College by the due date (date will be confirmed in email) or at your Course Counselling appointment, which will occur at Homestead Senior Secondary College. Parents are encouraged to be involved in this exciting process.

Once your enrolment is confirmed there will be an opportunity for a school tour.

In December, we will hold a Transition Program for all prospective Year 10 students. Students will experience their subjects and be given their holiday homework in preparation for the following year. This is a great opportunity for your child to experience and prepare for their first year as Senior School students.
